- Unified School District 428 is a district with foresight, vision, and an active mission to provide every student with a quality education.
- Our district serves the students residing in and around the city of Great Bend , Kansas , with an enrollment K-12 of close to 3,000 students.
- USD 428 employs over 300 certified personnel and over 600 classified employees.
- There are five elementary schools (grades K - 6), one middle school (grades 7 - 8), and one high school (grades 9 - 12). In addition there is an Early Childhood Center that houses Head Start, Early Childhood Special Education, migrant preschool, and kindergarten classrooms.
- Great Bend High School is a 5A school with award-winning athletic, co-curricular, and academic programs.
- All USD 428 schools are newly renovated, well-maintained, and air conditioned.
- District classrooms are equipped with computers for student use including internet access, filtering software, tutorial programs, and word processing software.
- Each school offers unique programs and opportunities to enhance student achievement and success.
- USD 428 has received the School Match, "What Parents Want" award for several years.
- The district was recognized as one of only 21 school districts in the state for the best use of district resources by
